Jesús Baigorri-Jalón is a person with a long professional career, divided, in short, between a period as a geography and history teacher (in high school and university) in Salamanca (co- founder of the “Cronos” research group, which won the 1st “Giner de los Ríos” National Prize for Educational Innovation in 1984) and in London; another as an interpreter at the United Nations in New York, where he wrote a doctoral thesis on the birth of the conference interpreting profession; a third as an associate professor of interpreting and interpreter in Salamanca until his retirement (co-founder of the international research group “Alfaqueque”); and finally, as a retiree, he has continued to interpret, publish, and organize exhibitions on the history of interpreting (the last one Language interpreters around 1945: Echoes from History, Nov. 20, 2025). In October 2025 he was granted a Doctorate honoris causa by the University of Geneva.
