Modesto Escobar, doctor en Sociología por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, es catedrático del Departamento de Sociología y Comunicación de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad de Salamanca. En la actualidad es investigador principal del Grupo de Análisis Sociológicos de la Universidad de Salamanca. Ha publicado libros como La identidad social del parado; El análisis gráfico/exploratorio, El análisis de segmentación: técnicas y aplicaciones de los árboles de clasificación, Análisis de datos con Stata, El análisis de la realidad social y Socioestadística. Es autor también, entre otros artículos, de “Deviation, inequality, polarization: some measures of social diversity”, “Redes semánticas en textos periodísticos: propuestas técnicas para su representación”, “La calidad democrática.
