El próximo 3 de octubre a las 16:30 en el aula 6 de la Facultad de Traducción y Documentación, el Profesor Don Kiraly nos propone una actividad muy innovadora llamada “flipped classroom” que él mismo explica de la siguiente manera (se trata de un profesor estadounidense que habla poco español, con lo cual lo que nos manda y la sesión que imparte serán en inglés):

After some 42 years of teaching at university level and doing pedagogical research on «collaborative learning», it goes against my grain to give a lecture where I talk and an audience merely listens. So instead, our informal discussion about translator education will be structured along the lines of what has been called a «flipped lecture». Instead of me creating a finished lecture and delivering it to you, I would like to give all of you the opportunity to prepare yourselves to select the specific themes for our discussion session by reading and thinking about some of the topics I have been working on for these many years. I would like to recommend that you begin by reading one or more of my shorter publications on translator education (articles or book chapters), virtually all of which can be found on www.researchgate.net. Please feel free to choose any article or chapter that interests you. After or while reading it, please jot down a couple of questions that come to mind and that you would like to have me respond to during our discussion session or that you would like to pose to the group in attendance (virtually all of whom will be teachers or students in a Translation and/or Interpreting Studies program at the University of Salamanca). The principle of the flipped is amazingly simple… at least on the surface. I will do my best to help the group understand the overall progression of my pedagogical work in terms of a coherent but ever-evolving approach towards understanding learning and promoting learning.
